Jesus L.R. Mateo is the newest Assistant Secretary in the Department of Education (DepEd). He handles the Office of the Planning Service (OPS) and simultaneously supports the Educational Development Projects Implementing Task Force (EDPITAF). As the head of OPS, he is concerned with Planning and Programming, Research and Statistics, Physical Facilities, and Project Development and Evaluation. As head of EDPITAF, he oversees the implementation of projects co-funded by various donor agencies. Before his designation as Assistant Secretary, Asec. Mateo was Director of EDPITAF and project manager of the Third Elementary Education Project. Before joining DepEd, he was a research assistant for the Office of the President, under the Center for Special Studies. Asec. Mateo has two Master’s degrees, one in Government and Business Management from Victoria University in Australia and one in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines (October 2003 and April 2002, respectively). He has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy also from UP. |
